Family Fun In The White River, Cicero, Indiana

Sunday, September 1, 2013

The White River flows along the eastern edge of our campground.  Now I ain't too smart, but I'll bet that's why our campground is called White River Campground!  It's a very popular river for canoeing and kayaking because it is shallow and has a gentle flow, and our campground is one of the many pickup/take out spots for local outfitters for kayaking.

Today, Neil, Jennifer, Logan, and Grayson, will be spending the day with us at the campground.  Neil brought some worms and fishing poles so the boys could spend the day fishing and exploring the river for unknown treasures.  Also, Sean is staying with us for a couple of days while his mom visits some old friends in nearby Crawfordsville.

Worms cost about $2.  Fishing poles cost about $25.  These boys catching fish...priceless.   Guess who caught the most fish!

Logan has a fish!

Logan has another fish!

Logan gets the biggest fish of the day!  You can see his dad in the background unhooking his big fish!

I am sure you have all heard of catch and release programs.  We have our own version of it here.  Logan catches the fish and Grayson releases them!

Here, Logan is trying to get Kallie to swim.  This is Kallie's first time in the water even though her breed is known to be excellent water retrievers.  She's led a very sheltered life and isn't going any deeper inspite of all our efforts!
L to R: Sean, Logan, Kallie, Grayson, and me.
.After spending most of the day in the river, everyone worked up a big hunger.  So, we went back to the fifth wheel and cooked some burgers and had some ice cream.  Logan won the award for catching the most fish and the largest fish while Grayson won the award for pulling apart worms faster than the fishing guys could put 'em on the hooks!  We all had plenty of fun and it was a great family outing!
